How we began. How you can help. How to contact us.
Our vegan-themed race car and food giveaway has been a dream of professional race car driver and environmental/animal activist Leilani Munter since 2011 (when she switched from being vegetarian to vegan). While receiving the Vegan Athlete of the Year Award at the Animal Rights 2016 National Conference, she restated her dream to a packed audience of vegan/animal advocates.
Dawn Moncrief, the emcee of the conference awards banquet and founding director of the vegan hunger relief and food justice nonprofit A Well-Fed World , connected with Leilani and they put together the pieces to make the Vegan Powered race car, food giveaway, and educational campaign a reality.
Thanks to our generous sponsors and donors, the Vegan Powered race car campaign is literally "on track." Professional race car driver and animal activist, Leilani Münter will kick-off the famous Daytona Speedweek, racing the VP car in the ARCA series on Saturday, February 18th.
Our team will give away thousands of samples of vegan versions of buffalo wings, chicken tenders, and meatballs. Key days include Leilani's race weekend and the extended weekend of the Daytona 500 (with 100,000 attendees expected).
Leilani will autograph special Vegan Powered driver cards and take fan photos with the VP car. NFL player David Carter (aka The 300 Pound Vegan) and vegan bodybuilder Robert Cheeke will join A Well-Fed World founder Dawn Moncrief in talking with visitors about the joys and benefits of veganism.
Special thanks to Gold Sponsor Compassion Over Killing for providing free educational literature and recipe booklets.
For outreach off the track, we have before, during, and after media coverage, including an in-car camera and vegan decals to get extra television coverage and messaging.
